There are numerous incredible landscapes that are well worth enjoying and the world truly does have too many wonders for any of us to see in our lifetimes. At the same time it’s impossible really to say that any one incredible view is more impressive and beautiful than any other, and this is something that makes writing a top ten of the most scenic landscapes very difficult.
That’s why you’ll find that this article is called ‘ten of’ the most scenic instead. You can’t measure beauty as it is as they say, in the eye of the beholder. Nevertheless these are ten sights that are commonly described as some of the most beautiful and that are generally considered as things we should see before we die. If you’re looking for somewhere spectacular that will remind you of the power of nature, then seek one of these out and you won’t be disappointed.
10. Tokyo By Night
Tokyo looks like some kind of incredible neon city of the future, and lit up at night this is fantastic to behold – especially if you can get to a high vantage point. What this reminds us, is that while we are responsible for damaging a lot of natural beauty, we have also contributed some new beauty and wonder of our own. We’re not all bad then…
9. The Swiss Alps
Any number of mountain ranges could have gone here, but the Swiss alps offers as many fantastic views as any as well as brilliant waterfalls and impossibly deep valleys.
8. Table Mountain
Table Mountain in South Africa is highly distinctive for its “table top” like peek. It’s strange to behold from city, and stunning to look down from.
7. Victoria Falls
If there’s anything that’s going to bring home the incredible power of nature then it’s probably a huge waterfall crashing down. Unlike many of the other views on this list, here is one that’s not static but rather constantly moving. The area around it is also full of greenery and wildlife.
6. Adam’s Peak
Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka offers what some people describe as the most beautiful view in the world. This vantage point gives you a view over all the landscapes of Sri Lanka and is surrounded by thick jungle. For those who aren’t afraid of a little vertigo look over the “World’s End” which is a sudden vertical drop of thousands of feet.
5. Northern Lights
The northern lights aren’t a view that stay in one place but rather one that needs to be chased down. It’s an incredible display of lighting that is almost like natural fireworks. Check this out from Iceland which is already an incredibly scenic place.
4. The Sahara Desert
There is something beautiful about a space so desolate as the desert, and the incredible shapes of the dunes here further add to the experience. Apart from anything else you should seek out the Sahara just so you can claim to have been in a real desert at some point.
3. The Antarctic
This is something that many of us will never get to see, but like the Sahara it is an extreme landscape that looks completely alien when compared to what we’re used to. It’s also incredibly beautiful and constantly moving and changing, and those who have seen it will never forget it.
2. Victoria Peak
Victoria Peak in Hong Kong is the highest point in Hong Kong and provides a peaceful spot of seclusion away from the hustle and bustle. It offers beautiful views of Hong Kong by night and is in itself a highly scenic landscape.
1. The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is incredible simple for its sheer scale which makes you feel like a tiny ant and really rams home just how large the planet really is. It’s incredibly dramatic and the landscape around it makes for some stunning pictures.
