Itinerary

Day 1 - WELCOME TO JAIPUR

Upon arriving in Jaipur you'll be transferred to your hotel. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is renowned as the "Pink City" due to the predominant use of pink sandstone in the construction of its historic buildings. This city owes its name, foundation, and layout to the Great warrior Astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II (1699-1744 AD), who established it in 1727, naming it "Jaipur" or the "City of Victory." Jaipur's distinctive charm lies in its portrayal of the nine divisions of the Universe, cleverly partitioned into nine rectangular sectors, setting it apart from other cities. The city's architectural planning, influenced by Hindu treatises on architecture like the Shilpa Shastra, beautifully combines Mughal and Jain elements from that era. In 1853, the city was painted pink in honor of a visit by Prince Albert. Besides the bustling traffic of bicycles, cars, and buses, the essence of Jaipur's charm seems to have remained timeless. Call it a day and relax for the night.

Day 2 - EXPLORING JAIPUR'S RICH HERITAGE

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a captivating full-day tour of Jaipur. Begin your journey with a visit to Amer Fort, which lies 11 kilometers from Jaipur and was once the fortified stronghold of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber. This magnificent fort served as the capital until the city's relocation to Jaipur. Crafted from white marble and red sandstone, the fort's charm is further enhanced by the serene Maota Lake that graces its foreground.

As you gaze upon the fort, its reflection shimmering in the tranquil lake, you may question whether you're witnessing a dream or an enchanting illusion. Should you wish to avoid the ascent, the option of an elephant ride [subject to availability, alternatively by jeep] awaits to transport you to the fortress's summit. Once atop, meander through the expansive complex, adorned with courtyards and grand halls, while an erudite guide regales you with captivating tales of days gone by.

Next, your journey continues to the heart of Jaipur, where you'll discover the City Palace—an opulent amalgamation of palatial splendor, lush gardens, ornate courtyards, intricate artwork, and intricately carved doorways. Inside the palace museum, marvel at collections of rare manuscripts, armor, costumes, carpets, and exquisite miniature paintings.

Adjacent to the City Palace stands the Jantar Mantar, an awe-inspiring Astronomical Observatory commissioned by the visionary Maharaja of Jaipur in 1726. This remarkable creation, one of five such astronomical marvels by Sawai Jai Singh, continues to provide precise astronomical predictions to this day.

Jaipur, a haven for shoppers, offers a plethora of treasures to explore. Most of the bustling bazaars are nestled within the old city, boasting a diverse array of items, from exquisite jewelry adorned with precious and semi-precious stones to handcrafted silverware, textiles, handicrafts, and timeless antiques. Undoubtedly, Jaipur stands as the ultimate destination for avid shoppers, providing an opportunity to collect cherished mementos.

Retire for the night at your hotel, carrying the vibrant memories of Jaipur's rich heritage with you.

Day 3 - JOURNEY FROM JAIPUR TO RANTHAMBORE - A WILDLIFE ODYSSEY (200 KM / 4 HRS)

Following a delicious breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Ranthambhore, a renowned wildlife sanctuary that ranks among the country's most prestigious tiger reserves. Visitors spending a few nights here are often rewarded with the thrilling sight of these magnificent creatures.

Once the private tiger reserve of the Maharaja of Jaipur, Ranthambhore joined the esteemed ranks of Project Tiger in 1972. Encompassing a sprawling 410 square kilometers, this sanctuary stretches from the easternmost reaches of the Aravalli Range to the Vindhya Range. Within its boundaries lies the charming town of Sawai Madhopur, renowned for its Jain temples adorned with gilded paintings.

As you explore Ranthambhore, keep your eyes peeled for more than just tigers; you may encounter herds of Chital and Sambar deer, the evasive sounds of wild boars, the graceful Nilgai antelope, and the nimble Chinkara gazelles. The sanctuary also shelters sloth bears, a few elusive leopards, and even crocodiles. The diverse birdlife is equally captivating, featuring species such as spur fowls, jungle fowls, partridges, quails, crested serpent eagles, woodpeckers, and a multitude of colorful flycatchers. Lakes and waterholes attract water birds like storks, ducks, and geese, creating a vibrant avian spectacle.

Later in the day, enjoy an afternoon game drive into Ranthambore National Park, an experience not included in the quote but well worth the opportunity to witness the park's wildlife in its natural habitat.

Conclude your day's adventures with an overnight stay at the hotel, eagerly anticipating the wildlife encounters that lie ahead in Ranthambhore.

Day 4 - FROM RANTHAMBORE TO PUSHKAR - EMBRACING CULTURE AND SPIRITUALITY (290 KM / 6 HRS)

Kickstart your day with an optional early morning game drive in Ranthambore Park, though please note that this adventure is not included in the initial quote. Please be aware that Ranthambhore Park remains closed from July 1st to September 30th.

Following your exhilarating game drive, return to the hotel for a satisfying breakfast before hitting the road to your next destination, Pushkar. On your way, make a captivating stop at Ajmer, a city founded in the 11th century by Chauhan ruler Ajaipal, where the imposing Taragarh fort dominates the skyline. Ajmer holds great significance for Muslim pilgrims during the fast of Ramzan, as it houses the revered Dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti. It is said that seven pilgrimages to Ajmer are equivalent to one to Mecca. Ajmer showcases remarkable examples of early Muslim architecture, a bustling bazaar, and its convenient proximity to Pushkar.

While in Ajmer, pay your respects at the Dargah (tomb) of Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti and admire the serene Ana Sagar Lake. Please note that in Ajmer, your vehicle will drop you approximately 2 kilometers from the Dargah, and you may opt to take an auto-rickshaw, with payment handled directly.

Upon reaching Pushkar, transfer to your hotel. At the heart of this enchanting town lies one of India's holiest lakes, adorned with 52 ghats and numerous temples. The Brahma Temple, in particular, draws pilgrims year-round. Pushkar is also renowned for its annual Cattle and Camel Fair, which takes place in the Kartik month (October/November) and attracts thousands of visitors. Don't miss the opportunity to witness and participate in the evening prayer ceremonies at the temples. In this sacred town, alcohol and non-vegetarian food are considered taboo.

Nag Pahar, known as the snake mountain, acts as a natural boundary, demarcating Pushkar from Ajmer. This traveler-friendly town clings to the side of the small Pushkar Lake, adorned with numerous bathing ghats and temples. For Hindus, Pushkar holds profound spiritual significance, and you'll encounter many Sadhus on their spiritual quests. The town boasts several temples, with the Brahma Temple being the most famous, as it is one of the few in the world dedicated to this deity.

Explore the Savitri Temple, devoted to Lord Brahma's first wife, situated atop a hill behind the Brahma Temple, offering panoramic views of the lake and surrounding desert landscape. You may also visit Man Mahal, a magnificent palace built by Raja Man Singh I of Amer, now transformed into the RTDC Hotel Sarovar, offering comfortable accommodations to visitors.

Of course, the highlight is the Brahma Temple, India's sole temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, featuring a striking red spire and a beautiful statue of Lord Brahma's carrier over the entrance gateway.

Pushkar also offers a delightful shopping experience, with a myriad of stalls lining the main bazaar. Discover embroidered fabrics, colorful footwear, beads and bangles, brass utensils, brass-studded belts, camel covers adorned with mirror work, vibrant saddles, leather goods, beautiful wall hangings, and stylish shoulder bags.

Relish an overnight stay at your hotel, immersed in the cultural and spiritual essence of Pushkar.

Day 5 - RETURN TO JAIPUR AND DEPARTURE (145 KM / 3 HRS)

Following breakfast, embark on a scenic drive back to Jaipur. Upon arrival, we will assist you in your transfer to Jaipur Airport or Railway Station, ensuring you catch your flight or train for your onward journey to your next destination.
