The literal meaning of Saputara is the land of Snakes and is an admired hill station in Gujarat. Predominantly, the place was inhabited by tribals and is located in Sahyadris or Western Ghats. It is also a part of the Dang district in Gujarat. If you ever plan on visiting Saputara, the best time to visit is from October to February. One can plan a two-day trip to this quaint hill station in Gujarat for a fulfilling weekend.

Day 1 in Saputara

The lush greenery is sure to leave you blind with leaves as you try to seep in the ultra-exotic green view through your eyes as you tread inside the Saputara region. The first place that one must add to their first day’s itinerary list is the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site in Saputara, it is a tranquil place of worship and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Many devotees come to Saputara majorly for paying their respects to the Nageshwar Mahadev temple and its presiding deity Lord Nageshwara (Shiva). The opening time of this temple is from 6 am to 6 pm. The Garbha Griha (Sanctum Sanctorum) enshrines a Shivalinga made out of black granite. The outer hall in the premises also holds a Nandi statue facing the lord.  

Once you have paid all your respects or homage to Lord Shiva, you can then visit the Step Garden to enjoy a saunter among green trees and a charismatic array of rainbow-colored flowers. The place is so well-maintained and visiting this Garden from March to April and July to August is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience as you could witness flowers in full bloom. The park remains open every day except Tuesday from 8 am to 12 pm and then again from 3 pm to 7 pm. There is a nominal fee for entering the garden premises which is INR 10. You can get a  glimpse of a beautiful foliage staircase along with some attractive wooden work. It would hardly take half an hour to see the entire park and its diverse flora or floral species.

Next, one can also add Sunrise Point to their first day’s sightseeing itinerary for Saputara to catch a sight of your life’s best sunrise in a scintillating valley. Also, the best way to capture a mesmerizing sunrise or sunset here is to reach at least 30 minutes before time.

Finally end your day on a sweet balmy note by visiting the Rose Garden, where you can see a myriad of colors as far as roses are concerned. Leave this scented place to indulge in a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 in Saputara

Start your day 2 in Saputara by paying a visit to Gira Waterfalls, this bewitching waterfall is sure to lure you and will leave you spellbound. You can expect a great start to your day by visiting this mesmerizing location in Saputara. The calm you feel just by looking at the waterfall is something incomparable.

Once you have had enough of the waterfall scene, you can simply move on with your day 2 by visiting the Purna Wildlife Sanctuary to cherish looking at the diverse fauna of this place. Indulge in a recreational walk in the sanctuary for rejuvenating yourself amid a sundry variety of flora and fauna.
