Air India Baggage Allowance for Europe Flights
Let us also discuss the baggage policy of Air India for European routes. The airline provides free cabin and check in baggage allowances. These depend on the fare class booked and the status of Flying Returns membership.

As can be seen, the allowance is generally 2 bags of 23 kg each for Economy and Premium Economy flights, except Economy Value tickets which allow only 1 bag of 23 kg per passenger. Business and First-class passengers can take 2 bags of up to 23 kg each for free.
The size of any check in bag shall not be more than 158 cm linear dimensions for Business and First-class passengers whereas the size of bag for economy class passengers, if taking two bags, shall not be more than 273 cm linear dimensions for both. A Linear dimension refers to addition of length, breadth, and height of the bag only once.
Flying Returns and Star Gold Alliance members are eligible for extra free allowances.
Flying Returns Silver members are allowed extra one bag of up to 23 kg on Air India operated flights only whereas Gold and Platinum members are allowed one extra bag of up to 23 kg on Air India and Star Alliance flights. There is no extra baggage allowance for the Flying Returns Red members.
Cabin Baggage Allowance
Air India allows 1 cabin bag and 1 personal item per passenger on its European flights. The weight of the cabin bag shall not be more than 7 kg for Economy and Premium Economy passengers and 10 kg for Business and First-class passengers.
The size of cabin bag shall not be more than 115 cm linear dimensions.
It shall be noted the for the tickets booked before May 2, 2024, the cabin baggage allowance of that time will be applicable. At that time the allowance in carry-on was 8 kg for Economy, 10 kg for Premium Economy and 12 kg for Business and First Class travelers.
In addition to the cabin bag, a personal item, infant food, walking aids such as collapsible wheelchairs, crutches and walking sticks can also be taken for free.
