Day 1 - Guwahati arrival and travel to Shillong (110 kms 3hour approximately)

Day 01 begins with your arrival at the Guwahati airport or railway station and from here you will embark your journey to Shillong with a stopover at Umium Lake.

Shillong, nestled amidst rolling pine-covered hills, holds the distinction of being the inaugural capital of Meghalaya. This charming city boasts a milder climate compared to tropical India, with its city center sitting at an elevation of 1496 meters above sea level. Currently, it is home to approximately 270,000 residents and is renowned for its numerous waterfalls, earning it the nickname "Scotland of the East." The British influence still echoes in the city's architecture and culinary traditions.

Rest in your lodgings at Shillong and get ready for the following day.

Day 2 - Shillong - Cherrapunji - Shillong expedition (60 kms 2 hours each way)

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel and set off for a scenic drive to Cherrapunjee. Located in Meghalaya, Cherrapunji holds the record as one of the wettest places on Earth, and it's the only location in India that receives rainfall throughout the year. This picturesque town is nestled in the East Khasi Hills, approximately 50 km southwest of Shillong, the state's capital. Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra or Churra, translates to 'the land of oranges.' Additionally, the cliffs of Cherrapunjee offer breathtaking panoramic views of the plains of Bangladesh.

During your visit to Cherrapunjee, you'll explore fascinating attractions including Arwah Cave, Nahkhalikai Falls, Mwasmai Cave, Seven Sister Falls, Dainthlen Waterfalls, Eco Park, and Wei Sawdong Waterfalls. After this enriching experience, you'll return to Shillong, with a stopover to admire the beauty of Elephant Falls, a mountain stream that gracefully cascades down two successive falls within dells adorned with fern-covered rocks.

Have a pleasant evening during your stay in Shillong.

Day 3 - Shillong exploration

Kickstart your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, followed by a full day of sightseeing in Shillong. Often referred to as the 'Gleneagle of the East,' Shillong is situated in the heart of a plateau, encircled by the majestic Khasi hills. This charming city boasts an array of captivating tourist spots. Ward's Lake, an iconic attraction within the city, is well-known for its short garden walks and boating.

The Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, a seven-story institution, seamlessly combines a museum with a research and publication center, dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India—an extraordinary amalgamation of all the sister states united under one roof.

Lady Hydari Park, a Japanese-style landscaped park, is adorned with stretches of roses and exquisite flowers. Adjacent to the park, you'll find a mini zoo housing approximately 73 bird species, 140 reptiles, and mammals. Shillong also boasts one of Asia's largest 18-hole golf courses, nestled within a valley teeming with thick pine groves and rhododendron trees. Spend your evening in this splendid setting.

The State Museum offers an insightful display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya, while the area around Shillong is adorned with magnificent waterfalls that cascade down deep valleys, creating mesmerizing spectacles that break the silence of the surroundings. Elephant Falls, a mountain stream cascading down two successive falls within fern-covered rock formations, is another highlight of the day.

You'll rest comfortably at your hotel for the night.

Day 4 - Shillong - Dawki & Mawlynnong - Shillong (90 Kms 3 hours each way)

Following breakfast, embark on a scenic drive from Shillong to Dawki, situated at the Indo-Bangladesh Border, and the charming Mawlynnong Village.

Begin your day with a morning drive to Dawki, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the Indo-Bangladesh border and the enchanting Umngot River. Here, you can enjoy a country boat ride on a direct payment basis—an experience not to be missed.

Continuing your journey, proceed to the remarkable Mawlynnong Village, often referred to as 'God's own garden.' Nestled in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, this village earned acclaim as the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. Located approximately 90 kms from Shillong, Mawlynnong is a community-driven eco-tourism initiative where the residents collectively work to maintain its pristine cleanliness. The village offers breathtaking natural beauty, and you can embark on a trek to the living root bridge in the neighboring village of Riwai. Moreover, the village showcases a natural balancing rock—a peculiar natural phenomenon where a boulder precariously balances on another rock.

In the evening, you'll return to Shillong, concluding a day filled with exploration and wonder.

You will lodge at your hotel for the evening.
